@Jelena: I had a similar experience, it was also one of the first games I played getting back into adventure games. It's not an exciting game, but I did enjoy exploring the world and the animations were really good.

@woger_rilco: I played that with a friend! Really liked the all the avenues you get to explore once you figure out how to work outside of your daily routine.

@Geisterfaust: I should check out Shadows of the Afterland!

I've been playing The Dreams in the Peacock House. Start to finish, several times; it's a short game.

It's lo-fi and linear, dark, with a sense of humour about it. A small puzzle box  with a couple of mysteries.

The main puzzles are easy, the (optional) additional goals are somewhat more challenging.

The plot is told in an unconvential manner. A painter named Argus is stuck in the Peacock House and in a coma. One or both might be a metaphor.  There are text adventure,
point & click and visual novel sections and each add to the narrative in a different way. Peacock House references a couple of poems, esotericism and a French surrealist film. If that sounds pretentious - it is. But that's good. It gives the player enough to make all sorts of connections, leaving room for interpretation.

I liked the somewhat experimental approach to the narrative. I also appeciate the game's unique style and sensibilities. I wished the puzzles were a bit more layered.

I am playing Dishaven the lost source, a challenging puzzle exploration adventure from the creator of quern. Its solid but it becomes quite linear and formulaic in the last chapters in my opinion (solve puzzle - clue - next puzzle) with the puzzles towards the end not really tied to the narrative. Though this is often the case in puzzle exploration adventures and with that said Dishaven is a really good and well thought out puzzler
Also finished a couple of other games recently:
Candlelight lament, a cosmic horror point and click third person adventure. The story and the art really clicked with me. Storywise it is like an anthology film and you have the opportunity to experience the story from the point of view of many characters. Puzzles though no complicated have a nice variety and are nicely woven to the story. I also appreciated the use of alternative puzzles, the many save slots capability apart from the autosave (useful to have the opportunity to try all the endings) and the option to skip some segments
Veloria the knot of candle. That one was really surprising because it was quite challenging for an RPGmaker adventure. Especially the clock level was a really intricate multi layered puzzle, although it's rules are not communicated smoothy to the player and mechanically and visually seem a bit bizarre (had to see a walkthrough). A very good idea though, really original.

After the Abandoned Planet I found Broken Sword, Shadow of the Templars Reforged version. Such a joy! The feature of switching between origial graphics and reforged version is fun. I even got a friend to play it together with me.

I always appreciate that function, especially if you can just press one button and switch back and forth.

Nice one getting a friend to play along!

It's been a while but I did play and finish Last day of June. It was a lot lighter then I thought it would be, and I really enjoyed playing it. Most of the time you play as one of the side characters and have to solve some light puzzle in a lazy late summer atmosphere, and then you come back to the main story for a bit of crying.
A short game, just what I needed to get back into playing, still struggling to find the time for it though....
I did manage to finish the Abandoned Planet: I liked the art, the puzzles and the story, got stuck in act 4 for a long time until I accidentally skipped a bit by solving the next puzzle.    Angel

But to get back to the topic of this thread, I am not sure what my next game will be. Before my break I started playing the Space Bar (in my crazy attempt to finish a certain top 100 list) but the non-linear style overwhelms me a bit.
I also wanted to finish the Colossal Cave Adventure, if I can find my notes from 2 years ago.
I haven't yet made up my mind and might just pick a game from my backlog at random Rolleyes

Yeah, I think he's turing into an adventure gamer.

Now I need to find a new game for us.
