Everything in the list is an adventure game in my opinion. The genre and has evolved and expanded, which is a good thing.

Not to forget The Talos Principle 2, that game deserves a place in any list!

The good thing about lists is that they inspire you to make your own, so here’s mine. I tried to focus on more classic point-and-click games, though there are a few exceptions.

25. Zniw Adventure
24. The Whispered World
23. The Journey Down
22. There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension
21. The Drifter
20. Gone Home
19. Foolish Mortals
18. Syberia
17. Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse
16. Machinarium
15. Gobliiins V
14. Loco Motive
13. Lamplight City
12. The Dream Machine
11. The Curse of the Golden Idol
10. Broken Age
09. Technobabylon
08. Blacksad
07. The Walking Dead: Season One
06. Return to Monkey Island
05. Perfect Tides
04. Primordia
03. Hob’s Barrow
02. Blackwell (Series)
01. Thimbleweed Park

Loved going through this thread. I admit, maybe I'm too much of a Jane Jensen fanboy, but was surprised to see only one person mention Gray Matter

It's weird seeing The Talos Principle or Blue Prince on an adventure games list. These games are primarily puzzle games, not adventure games. And if we go that route why not choose The Witness?

Walking sims are also a strange addition, but might be considered as a distilled form of adventure games. But again where is for example The Stanley Parable?

From more classic adventure games by far the biggest omission are Kentucky Route Zero and 1000xResist. Lack of these games makes any adventure game list invalid in my eyes.
