This game sparked my curiosity:

Cascadia Quest on Steam

I know some people might not be too excited about another game with the retro aesthetic - I do think it's done with some modern sensibilities and I personally still love the style. But what really draws me to this is the dynamic parser! It recognizes objects in front of you has functionality like autosuggest and autocorrect. Thinking of this makes my heart skip a beat!

A Study in Blue on Steam

A detective game with an unlikely duo. Not sure what to think of this yet, I haven't played the demo (I still need to finish a couple of freeware games for the other thread). This screenshot is beautiful, though. The animations are really good as well.

Cascadia Quest has been in development for figurative ever. I didn't know it was still in development. As a fan of hiking, the nature of the Pacific Northwest, and EGA text parser adventure games, it was one of my most looked forward to games for a long time, but man, it's been a *long* time.

What a fun Thread will save it for a quiet evening to browse thru thanks for posting all of this.

@Baron Blubba: You're right. I usually check for updates and (developer) activity on social media. I jumped the gun on this one - I was about ready to go to sleep and my excitement got the best of me. This one seems abandoned.

It's the unfortunate ending to many promising games. Too bad for us, but in many cases a little sad for the developers as well.

@CrisGer: it really is!

What's interesting about this one is that the developer has a good track record. This isn't his first game--he's already published the entire Snail Trek series! And Cascadia Quest wasn't exactly an under the radar game either. It received a lot of very positive buzz from within and without the adventure game community. I think, not sure but I think, even Kotaku or a similar major website did an article on it.

Life happens, you never know why projects don't get finished. Hopefully this guy is out there somewhere having a great time, even if that doesn't include finishing his game.

Abandoned games resonate with me in a particular way, even though I understand the sunk cost fallacy. I appreciate your outlook to balance things out.

In the words of Bill Callahan: In conclusion, leaving is easy.. when you've got some place you need to be.

Here's another upcoming game, with a demo!

Murder at the Birch Tree Theater on Steam

Didn't have this on the bucket list for this year.

Secret Files Tunguska Remastered

Hard to tell from that screenshot, but it looks like the main character gained 40 lbs since the original version was released.

This game doesn't just need a remaster. If it's going to be revisited, the entire script, from scenarios to dialog, needs to be rewritten. The puzzles were mostly nonsense, too. One of the worst games I ever sort of enjoyed playing.
