You have five days to save your husband, who has just been arrested by the Gestapo. Investigate, explore, and build relationships in this adventure game with role-playing elements. Who can you trust? Steam

It's a shame that such an exciting topic has been turned into such a boring game. In a game, I want to play, which means actively doing things. And by actively doing things, I don't mean just clicking on predetermined points and then having the character comment on them. A door is locked? Just click on one of the 3-4 points in the room and you've got it. A brain-dead monkey could play this game.

Given the beautiful graphics and serious theme, it's a shame how the game was botched. Add to that the implausible characterizations: someone gets beaten up with your help = the next day, you're working together again, no big deal. Your superiors don't even question where your bruised face came from. It's all just stupidly done.

There's a surprising amount of hostility towards people who try to distinguish between "pre-defined narratives with which the audience interacts slightly" and "games, in which the audience struggles to meet victory conditions". I haven't played the game you describe, but it sounds as though it was intended to be an illustrated and somewhat interactive novel; any puzzles or challenges would get in the way of the story unfolding as the author intended. They probably should have just made a movie, which the audience is supposed to passively consume.

An interactive novel is a very good description. If you know that and are prepared for it, then the game is certainly good.
However, I was expecting an adventure game and was disappointed as a result.

However, I don't agree that a film would have been an alternative. One review said it was amazing what terrible decisions people can make. Well-intentioned decisions can turn into something bad, which no film can convey.
