Games you haven't finished yet - Disembodied - 03-22-2026

Which games have you started and never got around to finishing?

I haven't actually finished Riven, despite becoming a pretty big fan of similar games. I never owned the game, I played it at a friend's place and we spent so many hours trying to figure out the puzzles. When we drifted apart I never went back to the game. I know there's a realtime version out now but somehow it wouldn't feel the same playing on my own  Sad

Too many to remember. If I get to a part I don’t want to do, usually a reflex exercise, I move onto something else but with the intent to go back to the abandoned game, then I leave it too long and don’t want to start over, et voila, another game relegated to the island of unloved adventures. Sad, I know, poor little waifs.

Yeah, that does sound sad. An endless row of unfinished games, one joyless game experience after another.

Unfortunately, Crimson Diamond - because I did enjoy it, then life got in the way and now I feel like I'd have to start all over. I do intend to go back to it, but then I'd need a couple of nights free in a row so I don't end up in the same place again.

Tons of games I played for an hour or less, some of which I do want to go back to for sure.

I probably put 20 hours into L.A. Noire and never finished it, thanks to a bug that corrupted my save file. And I found it becoming pretty repetitive after a while, not to mention tiresome with all the casual (and sometimes overt) racism and sexism. I probably will never get back to it.

I never finished many many games, because i try not to use walkthroughs and i just jump from game to game. A notable one is Diskworld, I am retrying this one and made some progress, I am stuck right now in the time loop with the book

RE: Games you haven't finished yet - Baron Blubba - 03-23-2026

I usually play every game to completion, if it's any good at all and sometimes even if it isn't.

But here are a few that I recently stopped playing midway through and probably won't go back to.

The Hand of Glory. I'm at the end of the game, the last chapter, the protagonists have been reunited, and I realized that I stopped caring *at all* about anyone or anything in this game a long, long time ago. This one could have really used a better localization to make each conversation and observation less cringe inducing...or if not cringe, often a powerful wince.

Tales. A very good idea hampered by horrible structure and puzzle design. With more playtesting, this could have been good. As it is, it became a chore what I assume was halfway-ish through the game and I realized I didn't want to waste any more time trying to solve puzzles only to realize that I had to visit Merlin for the hundred and sixth time in order to progress.

A Tale of Caos: Overture. So charming. I enjoyed the first part very much. The second (of I think three) parts is one awful dialogue puzzle after another, these usually requiring 10+ correct dialogue option choices to win. The script in general is bloated to beggar belief, and all the charm in the world goes down the drain when the player just. can't. take it anymore. Also some gosh awful puzzle design where changes in the game are triggered only after something completely unrelated has been accomplished, so you do something, wander from screen to screen, do something, wander from screen to screen. Over and over again. But it's so charming I might finish it someday.

Love Me Or Die. I like the setting and unique theme enough to overlook the horrible translation, but the game is clunky like the cheapest games on a free "60 Games In One" cd-rom from 1992, to the point where I stopped after a couple of hours.

The Seance of Blake Manor. Unlike the other games on this list, this one seems 100% **AWESOME**, but too in depth for me at the moment, so will wait for another time.

Grim Fandango (twice), Tex Murphy: Pandora Directive and The Colonel's Bequest come to mind.

Death on the Nile, but probably I will give it a try next summer.
Riven
Myst
Dark Fall 1

Like Baron Blubba, I also tend to always play games to the end. But there's a couple of snags right now: I'm playing through Machinarium, and it's just not my type of game. I will complete it eventually, but I have weeks and months long breaks between play sessions. Tongue And secondly, I'm also replaying Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller. And for some reason I stopped up after chapter three a while ago, and just haven't gotten back into it yet.
