Oh, there definitely are people who don't like the Syberia series because of the puzzles or long walking (which I find annoying these days as well, like in The Longest Journey, waiting for animations when characters are walking away to exit the screen ...). So take my recommendation with a grain of salt. Smile

I never played Amerzone, but I am considering to play the remake some day. The theme seems to be interesting, but I am not that interested that I have to play it "now".

I was playing all games in the series in times when it was published. Syberia 1 and 2 were really great games, I like the atmosphere, the story, Oscar, train... Syberia 3 had quite good story, but it was destroyed by introducing 3D and controlling suitable for consoles. Even Benoit Sokal didnt liked it and during presentation to us on Gamescom he has left the room when he saw presenters trying to show how it works. On the other hand, fourth part was really great, little bit different, but it is one of the best adventure games in last years.

I have also played Syberia Remaster. And I still have same feeling like before - this remaster is "almost pointless" and I should prefer completely new chapter. It is helping to bring the game to the new audience (mainly on consoles), but thats all. When remake of Amerzone was great and helpful, here it is completely opposite. It is not complete copy, there are some adjustments and some puzzles are added (at least one new puzzle in each chapter), but for me this added puzzles doesnt fit to the story so perfectly. On the other part, some other contect was removed. Also full 3D means lot of "walking for nothing", especially in Valadilene and Barrockstadt you spend lot of time with walking (or running) instead of enjoying the game. Original Syberia had lot of walking too, but here it is much bigger extreme. Also atmosphere doesnt have the same vibe like in original, especially in Valadilene with too dark graphic filter... And I should mention also animation - FMVs are only upscaled old versions, which doesnt suit to the new look - for example Kate looks very different on FMVs and in game ; lot of other animations in the game were removed (sometimes it was only short animation like opening the door or walking on the ladder, but it was helping to make the atmosphere).

Syberia 1 is my favorite adventure game of all time and I played it when it released. I fell in love with the world Benoît Sokal created, the characters, and the amazing story. I also really love the architecture and the automatons.

Syberia 2 is great and an amazing sequel. I would recommend it to everyone who played 1 to also play it.

I installed Syberia 3 and stopped playing within 20 minutes. It was super buggy when first released and it just kept crashing. I think they since improved it, but I never tried again.

I recently played Syberia: The World Before on a PS5 and I really liked it. It was great seeing Kate and Oscar again (even though he was not quite himself). The story for Syberia 3 was recapped well in the recap movie, so I did not have a regret playing it.

I'm also considering checking out the remaster, but I'm going to wait a bit to not repeat my Syberia 3 experience Smile

Working on Ashwood Conspiracy, a dark Slavic mystery adventure.
Play the web version on Itch
Wishlist it on Steam

Uh yes, after what I have read about the quality of the remaster so far, I am not willing to play it for now either - unfortunately. I hope they'll be able to fix it, even though bad stuff happens in the game industry over the past few years, preventing devs to actually finish their games in the way they wanted. Of course they need players/buyers now as support and motivation for fixing it.

Syberia 4 is a game I would definitely play again, even though I seldom do that.

I loved the first two Syberia game. I found the third game very buggy, I really liked it as far as I got but disappointedly came to a standstill where I just couldn't progress & had to abandon it. I found the fourth one: The world Before excellent!

I've yet to play any of the Syberia games, even though I do own them all. After reading the reviews of the "remaster" of the first game, I will absolutely be playing the original release when I eventually get around to playing the series.
