It’s probably the best story out there. I think it’s properly rated for what it otherwise offers. Most have it in their top 50 which seems fair.

I've only played GK1 & 2, but they are amongst my favourites for pure atmosphere. I especially love the music in 2. Reading this thread has really got me interested to try 3, even though I suspect it won't be easy getting it to run on an M4 Mac...

I'm on Linux myself, and don't really know anything about Mac and even less about their custom chips. But doesn't Proton work just as well on Mac as Linux?

I loved everything about GK3 despite finding the game mechanics very difficult at the time - such an excellent intricate story!

I'm interested to know what difficulties you had with the game mechanics? They are different and fairly innovative, but they seem pretty straight-forward to me?

I agree that the mechanics are pretty straight forward, different & were fairly innovative at the time but for anyone who suffers from motion sickness, such as myself, the 3D 'swinging' camera views are nausea inducing. I did manage to get through the game the first time I played but gave up after trying to replay it a few years later.

No, Proton is Linux only. I will probably just wait until I have access to my old PC (which is currently in storage) because setting up virtual machines is a hassle and not really worth it for just one game which I don't even own yet. Anyway, I remain intrigued by GK3 so will hopefully play it one day then I can decide if it's underrated for myself Smile

Ah. I tried some ISS simulator in VR and almost puked, so can somewhat relate to that. Sorry dude.

Huh. I didn't know that. I can understand Valve, Wine, GE and others who develop proton focusing on linux, but it seems weird to me that apple hasn't picked this low hanging fruit. Seems to me like a very limited staff could have brought gaming to modern macs. There are probably technical issues I'm not aware of but it should be well within the resources of the behemoth that is apple to adapt this fairly cheaply.

I have also motion sickness, so I have problems to play lot of games. But I never had issues with GK3, despite I have played it many times. But if I remember well, you can "not use" free 3D camera and use static camera views, no?
