I'm glad to find an alternative to Discord and Reddit to talk about adventure games. I've quit those two places since they've been getting more and more enshittified. Last year I didn't get to play as many adventure games as I would have liked, despite it being a completely stacked year. This year I plan to get through a lot of my backlog and hope having a forum to discuss will keep me on track.

Welcome - and same! I was surprised by the recent amount of original and high production value games. Maybe we could set up a community playthrough of one of the new titles in the near future.

I’m totally going to steal that word enshittified. In exchange, though, I will gift you with the word craptacular.

I just finished The Drifter yesterday and that was great. Maybe we can make one for Perfect Tides: Station to Station that comes out this week. I'm sure a lot of people are looking forward to it. It's already nominated for an IGF Seumas McNally Grand Prize

It's not my word: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enshittification. Unfortunately, it's been a common trend across much of Big Tech over the past few years.

Good idea! I'll set up a thread later today.

Reddit can be great….but it’s flooded by gatekeepers and party poopers. The general population has a tendency to chase away new adventure game fans, rather than embrace them.

Gatekeepers I don't mind, as long as they are real people. It's that after Reddit made that deal to OpenAI and Google to use their comments for training it's going to be much more difficult to determine which comments are real and which are just astroturfing.

Enshitification; gatekeeping; astroturfing??  Confused These all sound like reasons to be glad that I don't use reddit or discord. Anyway, welcome Smile

That’s a massive turnoff. It’s frustrating that all of the massive tech companies have fully adopted AI. I live my life assuming everything is fake until proven otherwise.
