Shivers could be a fun one, I've never played that.

Shivers is a great game but also a tricky one for a CP because it's not easy to divide into chapters once you get into the mansion. Players can go off in entirely different directions, which leads to spoilers in trying to discuss it as a group. We had a community playthrough of it at the old AG site, and our leader set it up so that we avoided certain areas until we had completed others, just so we'd have common things to talk about periodically.

A day without books and games is like...just kidding.  I have no idea.

That's a good point. We don't have a leader yet, so that's a challenge.

I'd offer to do it, but I don't think that would work. I don't mean this in any particular way, but people don't really listen to me or follow my lead. I could take on a more linear game, suggestions are welcome.

Overal it's probably going to be tricky getting enough people involved for any community playthrough.

Sure, you're free to suggest a game, offer to lead it and see if people will join.

Hmm I don't intend to buy Perfect Tides yet, but I'm up for Inspector Waffles or Phantom Fellows. I haven't done those !

Gobliiins could be a good game. It's very linear, with each screen acting as a separate puzzle. It's easy to get and run.
It doesn't even need a leader. Max one screen a day, and the first person to beat the current screen should write something about it.

As you pointed out, the hardest thing at the moment is getting people to start any playthrough.

Gobliiins noted!

I was thinking about leaderless playthroughs, figured I'd wait until you chimed in!

We have a couple of games with two or maybe three people saying they're on board. Let's see how Gobliiins fares. My suggestion: if there are at least four people in, someone makes the thread and we'll try out our first leaderless playthrough.

One screen a day might be too fast-paced, though. I remember the game being fairly opaque in its puzzle logic and each board having many challenges to overcome.

Another thing: we should probably establish what we expect from each other. Some might appreciate sharing hints and solving puzzles together, others may consider these spoilers they'd like to avoid.

My two cents: let's take about three days for each screen. The people who finish sooner can take the time to discuss their experience. I like the communal aspect of solving puzzles together (in the thread), but we could use an outside source for hints, like Joe did for IMAGinE.

I remember the Shivers playthrough LadyK mentioned. It eventually worked out just fine, but I was the one who initially screwed things up by playing the drums. The clue to the drum sequence is found elsewhere in the game. I was just tapping and inadvertently hit the right sequence and a door opened. Ergo, I was playing a part of the game we weren't supposed to be playing yet. There is also a possible dead end in the game that I discovered when playing the game on the old Compu
Serve forum. Don't know if Sierra ever fixed it. You have to do three things wrong in order to get trapped. Which I did.

Ha!

If we do get around to playing Shivers on this forum, I hope you'll be on our team, so we can learn from your past mistakes!
