Dorfromantik is a peaceful building game in which you place hexagonal tiles to create an ever-growing village landscape. Explore a variety of colorful biomes, unlock new building components, and complete quests to fill your game world with life! https://store.steampowered.com/app/14558...fromantik/
A very nice tile-laying game, which also inspired the board game of the same name. In Classic Mode, you have to place tiles wisely to complete small tasks such as "Add xxx houses or trees. Build xxx train tracks or waterways." The latter may only be placed on cards of the same type.
There is also an infinite creative mode in which you can build landscapes. However, it is recommended to play Classic Mode regularly, as this unlocks additional tiles.

The best tips for Dorfromantik
Dorfromantik is a relaxed building game, but keeping the stack of tiles alive requires a little strategy. Here are the most important tips to boost your high score:
1. The secret of “perfect placement”
If you place a tile so that all 6 edges match the color/theme of the adjacent tiles exactly, this is considered a “perfect placement.”
The bonus: The tile lights up briefly and you immediately receive an extra tile for your stack.
Tip: Don't build too many “hard edges” (e.g., forest directly adjacent to a house), but try to create smooth transitions with empty meadow edges to keep perfect placements open for later.
2. The difference in quests
Pay close attention to the bubbles above the areas:
Number with a plus sign (e.g., 50+): You must connect at least 50 trees/houses/fields. The area may continue to grow indefinitely after that.
Just a number (e.g., 12): You must connect exactly 12 elements. If you accidentally add a 13th element, the quest fails! Be especially careful when building here.
3. Flags = Complete areas
Sometimes, after completing a quest, a small flag will appear in the area. This means that you will receive a large bonus in points and tiles if you complete this area.
For example, a forest is complete when no new trees can be added on any side.
Do not unnecessarily complete areas with flags.

I’ve been looking at this board game in stores and kind of wanted to buy it a dozen times. Me and my fiancée are big fans of the board game Carcassonne and all its expansions and variants (we have a shelf full of Carcassonne boxes
). This looks like something a bit in the same vein – but I had no idea that the PC game was first and the board game second! I’ll have to check this out sometime. Do you recommend starting with the computer game or the board game? Is the board game nice to play for two players?
I have to say, it looks incredibly cozy! Alas, it’s Windows only, and I don’t have a Windows machine currently.

I've had this on my (rather long) Steam wishlist for a while, but not really prioritized buying it. It looks very interesting. I'll definitely make sure to prioritize it higher.
I don't know the board game, but to see if you like the gameplay, I recommend the computer game.
You can buy it here: https://www.amazon.de/Pegasus-Spiele-512...r=8-4&th=1
There are now several versions and add-ons of the board game.

I haven't played the board game either. I heard from players that they enjoyed it. But I am not convinced to be honest. Players who prefer competitive game and playing against one another would find it boring.
I played Dorfromantik early when it was released. The devs released it earlier than originally planned back then so people could enjoy it during the pandemic. I instantly fell in love with the overall concept and style.
For some reason, the board game tiles look less "haptical" to me than the original ones from the digital game for pc. There is this print structure on the tiles which I really do not like (I just saw it on photos/videos but still). While the digital version feels so "hand made", and I have all the sounds and nice effects, the music and lighting ... the board game variant feels less "alive" to me.
So I would definitely recommend to try out the digital version first, and if you like that gameplay so much that you want to play it as a board game as well, then yes.

We’ve been quietly working on something new behind the scenes, and today we’re excited to share a little glimpse with you: a brand-new Dorfromantik biome is in development! And it's very much inspired by your community wishes.
Over the years, you’ve sent us countless ideas, wishes, and creative concepts. We’ve read them all, collected them, and discussed them within the team. You dreamed of savannas and Viking worlds, South Sea islands and fantasy realms, castles and medieval landscapes, Scottish Highlands and Mexican villages, a toy world and even a Cthulhu-inspired universe, the Wild West and Ancient Rome… So many amazing ideas. Where do we even begin?
New Biome Upcoming!
At the beginning of the year, we sat down together and asked ourselves: what can we bring to life in a way that truely fits Dorfromantik? Here’s the outcome:
This spring, your ideas will turn into a cosmetic DLC! From the community ideas shown above that made it into our shortlist, we’ve picked one and have started working on models and color palettes. The gameplay itself won’t change. New look, new vibe, but you’ll still be able to use your established strategies, chase high scores, or just play in a relaxed manner.

oday we’re celebrating something very special: Dorfromantik turns 5! Over the past years you have built millions of villages, forests and rivers, shared screenshots, suggested ideas, and shaped the game together with us. To celebrate this anniversary, we’re happy to announce three brand-new additions coming to Dorfromantik.
Dorfromantik Goes Medieval
? Biome Pack in Development
We're working on a Biome Pack, and we’re taking a trip back in time. Dorfromantik goes Medieval!
Many familiar special tiles will receive a historical makeover and do a time skip. For example: The village well gains a small roof and bucket winch, the steamboat transforms into a medieval sailing ship, and the ruined structure rises again as a proud knight’s (or lady's) castle. All houses will get a medieval makeover as well with typical shapes and timbering! Even the locomotives will change, but let's not spoil that
Oh no! Do I have to change my gameplay strategy now? ?
Don't worry! It will purely be a cosmetic DLC. The familiar Dorfromantik puzzle experience and balancing remains unchanged. The same gameplay mechanics, dressed up beautifully in a new flavour: the armor polished, the lute tuned, and the jester’s hat proudly in place.
For the past five years we’ve collected all biome ideas you sent us via Steam, Discord and social media. We carefully evaluated which theme would be a suitable Biome Pack contender, feasible for our small team and blend smoothly into Dorfromantik’s world. The Medieval theme felt like an amazing fit!
? Biome Pack Coming in Different Landscape Flavours
With the Biome Pack, the medieval theme comes in different styles, changing the mood of your landscape and immersing Dorfromantik in a variety of medieval biomes.
And the best thing is: it will come very soon! We’re currently planning a release in May or June 2026.
