1. Adventure games. The older I get, the less patience I have for games that rely on timing, physical precision, plus staying alive and not dying. I used to be really good at Assassin’s Creed II actually (on PS3/Xbox 360). When I tried to replay it a couple of years ago, I just got frustrated and gave up. But the games I will always come back to, and always want to replay like watching a great movie all over again, are adventure games.

2. Sam & Max is the more wacky and crazy, but I still find Guybrush more «entertaining» because his goofyness is more my cup of tea, I guess.

3. I actually don’t mind slider puzzles and find them oddly relaxing. But the thing for me, is that mazes feel more like a part of the game itself. Meaning that you are still in the game world, still walking around the game’s locations – like in Zak McKracken. Completely unforgiving yes, and there’s no way without a map – but I kind of like maps. Slider puzzles on the other hand, are more like «We interrupt this game to bring you this slider puzzle». The game is put on hold until you complete it, and then you can proceed. So I voted mazes.

4. Easily mouse. I like keyboard shortcuts though, and often prefer to use a combination (a key to bring up the inventory, for instance). But controlling a cursor with arrow keys is murder, and most adventure games use a cursor, so…

Or were you thinking of a «what if» scenario where every adventure game suddenly used tank controls to control the character, like in Grim? I am in the minority that actually have no problem with tank controls, and prefer them to "camera-centric" keyboard controls – but still, if EVERY adventure game had to be like that… I’d still prefer the mouse instead. Smile

I love the amount of detail that you put into your answers. It was a great read, Eirik. Very good points regarding slider puzzles and mazes.

Yeah, It was a 'what if' scenario for adventure games having keyboard or mouse controls. I had KQ2 in mind when writing the question.
